FAQs

Why should I put my child in GLC?

We understand the importance of a safe and nurturing environment as well as a rigorously tested curriculum and trained teachers in the formative years of a child. The experience of our leadership team over the past decade in foundational education and early childhood care reinforces us to focus on these key areas. Our strong inclination and passion to add value to each child’s early learning years sets us apart from other preschools. Additionally, such high quality education and care is available within the safe environs of Greenwood Regency, thus precluding the need for travel on Sarjapur Road during peak traffic hours every day.

What does a typical day look like in GLC?

Each day is planned to engage children in activities that have a perfect balance of individual and group activities, outdoor and indoor activities, active and quiet time, free and guided activities. Learning engagements that foster holistic development are part of our day. We empower children with practical life skills in an ideal and nurturing environment.

Do you have day-care facilities?

Yes, flexible day-care facilities are available for children in the age group of 2-10 years.

We run the day-care to support working parents or care-givers who are unavailable during working-hours for some other pressing reason. We provide children with general care in a safe and vibrant environment, as well as basic engagement and rest activities.

Which age-group do you cater to?

For the academic year 2024-25, our Pre-School is accepting admissions for the M0/Pre-Nursery Program (2-3 years) and M1/Nursery Program (3-4 years). We plan to add M2 (4-5 years) and M3 (5-6 years) in the academic year 2025-26 and 2026-27 respectively so that our children are able to complete their entire pre-primary in Greenwood Learning Centre, and are thus fully ready for Grade 1 in other schools.

Children in the age group of 2 to 10 years are welcome in our day-care and after-school programs.

Should my child be toilet-trained?

We prefer that children enter preschool toilet trained. If your child is not toilet trained, please speak with his/her teacher prior to the first day at school. We will be happy to support your efforts when you feel your child is ready for this developmental step. He/She would continue to wear a diaper until he/she is fully trained. This is essential to help maintain hygiene routines at our school. Our staff is well trained to follow the diaper change procedures.

Do you provide food at the school?

No, we currently do not provide food at the school. Children are expected to get their food from home and the facilitators/care-takers help them to eat it during the breaks.

What is the difference between the day-care and the after-school programs? Are they the same?

Our center offers day-care as well as various after-school programs that can be attended by children who are enrolled at our center in the preschool program as well as children who are not part of our preschool program.

We run the day-care to support working parents or care-givers who are unavailable during working-hours for some other pressing reason. We provide children with general care in a safe environment as well as basic engagement and rest activities.

The after-school program involves specific activities and classes by trained facilitators on topics such as science, coding, guided library activities etc. Children enrolled in the day-care program will need to register for such after-school classes/activities, based on their interest.

What are your hours of operation?

Our preschool runs from 9:00am to 12:00pm (the time may vary slightly depending on the age-group), on most working days. Day-care facilities are available from 11:30am to 6pm. List of holidays etc. will be shared at the beginning of the academic year.

The timing of after-school classes may vary based on the preference/availability of the students who have enrolled for these classes and the facilitator. However, these are generally organized between 4pm to 7pm on working days and between 11am to 6pm on weekends.

When will classes start? Can I visit the school?

Classes are expected to start in January 2024. Parents are welcome to visit once the school renovation is complete (expected in December).

How will you ensure my child is ready for Grade 1?

Our way of teaching, by having the students explore and learn, prepares them for success much beyond the early years. We follow a highly progressive and accredited, Montessori inspired, curriculum and use high-quality teaching-learning materials. This will build the foundation for literacy, math, science, creative, motor and social skills your child will need to do well in later schooling. The difference is in the approach that is adopted in making the learning journey enjoyable and fun.
