Why You Should Consider Joining the Book & Reading Club
Greenwood Learning Centre's Library is not just a collection of vibrant, diverse, age appropriate, good quality books but a space that is committed to nurturing ardent, discerning readers - readers who are expanding and enhancing their sensibilities, learning to read between the lines, picking up nuances and complexities, responding to issues relevant to them and perhaps, picking up the skill to also be critical of the content they are encountering!
In an age where there is often very little encouragement to read, too many other occupations, unmonitored television-viewing, addiction to computer games & mobile phones, and academic pressure, the imaginative flow of children is at a danger of drying up! At the GLC library, there are ways by which children's relationship to books and reading can be strengthened, in turn strengthening their imagination, curiosity and wonder.
Its many programs and activities, the GLC library will offer its readers, unhindered access to a curated collection of some of the best books and resources, including international and national award-winning titles, that have been written for children and young readers! This will be enhanced by planned and facilitated opportunities for meaningful engagement with the books, making the library a space for dialog and reflection for young readers. Thus, they'll find encouragement to move forward on their journey as readers, engaging with increasingly complex texts and themes.
